Produce prodigy: Angelina Neely

School/College: Fox School of Business
Degree/Year: BBA, business management, 2022
Hometown: Exton, Pennsylvania
Current Job Title: District manager
Current Employer: ALDI USA

As a 25-year-old overseeing six multimillion-dollar store operations for grocer ALDI, one might expect Angelina Neely, FOX ’22, to feel a little uncertain as she manages nearly a hundred employees across the Delaware Valley, many of them with decades more industry experience. But she says the business and social acumen she developed at Temple help her navigate the responsibility with both confidence and grace.

A self-starter, Angelina helped build DECA business clubs at both her high school in the Philadelphia suburbs and at Temple, where the organization continues to thrive. With a focus on professional development, networking and presentations, members get a head start on developing skills essential to taking on big responsibilities at a young age.

“Starting DECA at Temple was one of the main reasons why I feel I got the job with ALDI. Being able to work through the challenges and administrative tasks of building an organization helped me understand that I wanted to be in a role focused on recruitment, personnel, HR and operations management. I still use all of these skills.”

Temple through and through. Angelina’s parents met at Temple, and a sibling also attended. During her own four years, Angelina became so enamored with the university that she opted to serve as an Owl Ambassador, sharing her enthusiasm with prospective students and families on campus tours and training others to do the same.

An internship with ALDI originally appeared on a Fox-run jobs board. Angelina applied and got the role the summer before senior year, after which she was offered a full-time position. She served as student ambassador for the company senior year and then dove right into her role as district manager.

Angelina found a mentor in Fox Associate Professor Daniel Goldberg, director of the business management program. Many students who start out in business management transfer to more specialized disciplines, but Goldberg encouraged Angelina to stay on and start DECA, now known as the Business Management Organization. “That’s one of the reasons I feel I got the job with ALDI,” says Angelina, who now serves as an alumni member of a Business Management Council at Temple that supports current students in the major.
